U.S. Senator John Boozman announced his subcommittee assignments for the Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee. Boozman will serve as the Ranking Member on the Conservation, Forestry and Natural Resources Subcommittee. He will also sit on the Subcommittee on Commodities, Markets, Trade, and Risk Management; and the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, Poultry, Marketing and Agriculture Security. 

“Agriculture plays a vital role in Arkansas’s economy. These subcommittees allow me the opportunity to better serve the interests of our state as we develop legislation that affects our farmers and ranchers, and ensures the appreciation of our natural resources for generations to come. I am eager to help craft policies that will continue to ensure a reliable, sustainable, and affordable supply of food and fiber,” Boozman said. 

Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry 

This committee develops legislation on a diverse range of issues affecting our nation’s farmers, ranchers and rural communities including food production, energy, resource conservation, forestry and economic development.  

Conservation, Forestry and Natural Resources

As the Ranking Member, Boozman will focus on matters regarding conservation and sustainable management of our natural resources, as well as forestry. Jurisdiction of this subcommittee includes oversight of the Natural Resources and Environment mission area.

 Commodities, Markets, Trade, and Risk Management 

This subcommittee deals with matters regarding production agriculture and farming, including our food safety net, credit, insurance and commodity markets. Jurisdiction includes oversight of the Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services mission area and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. 

Livestock, Dairy, Poultry, Marketing and Agriculture Security 

This subcommittee has jurisdiction over matters involving livestock and dairy production, as well as related markets, safety, security and competition issues.
