WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman announced his committee assignments for the 112th Congress. Boozman will serve on four Senate Committees: Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry; the Environment and Public Works Committee; Commerce, Science and Transportation and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to represent our state on these key Senate committees that allow me to best serve Arkansans and work on the issues that are important to them. I look forward to working with my colleagues on these committees to produce sound legislation that meets the needs of our country in a fiscally responsible manner,” Boozman said.

Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry

This committee develops legislation on a diverse range of issues affecting our nation’s farmers, ranchers and rural communities including food production, energy, resource conservation, forestry and economic development.

Environment and Public Works

This committee is responsible for protecting our natural environment, including air, water and wildlife. The committee also oversees our nation’s transportation systems and other public infrastructure.

Commerce, Science and Transportation

This committee has jurisdiction over a broad range of legislative subjects including science and research policy, space exploration, coastal zone management, interstate commerce, marine navigation and safety, consumer product regulation, aviation, rail passenger and rail freight, trucks, buses, highway safety programs, and many other important areas.

Veterans’ Affairs

The Veterans’ Affairs Committee is assigned with oversight responsibility for veterans’ benefits and providing for the health and welfare of the men and women who served our nation in uniform. The committee has jurisdiction over the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
