WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) issued the following statement today on the passing of former Israeli President Shimon Peres:

“Today, we mourn the passing of Shimon Peres and stand in support of the people of Israel and all who admired him as they grieve and reflect on his remarkable life.

“Shimon Peres was a stalwart figure in Israel’s government for decades and helped shape the special relationship between the United States and Israel. A tireless advocate for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, Peres worked diligently toward building a lasting agreement that resulted in the international community awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize.

“He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of service to the Jewish state. Israel and the United States have both been touched by his incredible leadership and resolve.”
